Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Crochet Lab collects, why, and how it's handled. Crochet Lab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

What we collect

• Account identifier. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account (via Firebase Authentication) so your saved patterns and balance persist across sessions. If you choose to link a Google account, we associate your Google account identifier with that same anonymous account.
• Your design inputs. Text descriptions (and, if provided, reference images) you submit to generate a pattern or preview image.
• Your patterns. Patterns and preview images you generate and choose to save are stored in your account's library.
• Purchase records. When you add balance via Google Play Billing, Google handles your payment details directly — we never see your card information. We receive confirmation of the purchase and the amount to credit your account.
• Usage analytics. Basic app usage and diagnostic events (e.g. screens viewed, feature usage, crash reports) via Firebase Analytics, to understand how the app is used and to fix problems.

How we use it

• To generate the preview images and written patterns you request.
• To save and sync your pattern library and account balance.
• To process in-app purchases and maintain an accurate balance.
• To diagnose bugs and improve the app.

Third parties we share data with

We don't sell your data. We share it only as needed to provide the app's features:

• Google Firebase — authentication, data storage, analytics, and app hosting.
• Google Play Billing — processes in-app purchases.
• Anthropic (Claude API) and Google (Gemini API) — the text descriptions and images you submit are sent to these AI providers to generate your pattern text and preview images. They process this data to fulfill your request under their own respective privacy and data-use terms.

Data retention and deletion

Saved patterns and your account balance are kept until you delete them in-app or request deletion. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at the address below.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and stored using Firebase's standard security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
